Transporting Your Pet Internationally - What You Need to Know

Four simple tips to transport your pet smoothly:
  • On returning to the United States, your pet will be subject to the same entry regulations as a foreign animal arriving for the first time.
  • Be prepared to provide a signed certificate of health signed by a veterinarian no more than 10 days prior to your departure from the US.
  • Pet dogs (but not cats) also require a certificate signed by a veterinarian verifying that they were vaccinated against rabies not less than 30 days before arrival in the US.
  • All animals arriving in Hawaii or Guam are subject to quarantine, even if traveling from another part of the United States.
